Tip #1: Limit yourself to ONE "sweats/comfy" day a week!
Here's why: if your friends and compatriots constantly see you wearing "comfy" clothes, they will assume that that is what you normally wear (now, this is probably true, but they don't need to know that!) However, if they see you constantly wearing stylish clothes, they will assume that you, by extension, are a stylish person. However, you should designate one day a week to be your "comfy day." If you don't have a comfy day, you will be miserable and uncomfortable. By giving yourself one comfy day a week, you'll have something to look forward to during the rest of the week.
Tip #2: Utilize your stylish friends!!
I know that you have at least one stylish friend, so why not make use of them? After all, that's what friends are for (sort of)! Borrow their clothes, ask them what they think of such and such piece of clothing, ask them if they'll go seasonal shopping with you, if they're giving away clothes to the Salvation Army, ask if you can "drop it off" for them (you don't need all of it though, give some it to those in need!), the list goes on and on!
Tip #3: If you are completely void of stylish friends (which I highly doubt), utilize the next best thing: Pinterest!
Pinterest is amazing and if I didn't have any semblance of a life, I would pin things for hours at a time (oh wait, I already do that...)! It gives you all sorts of fashion ideas and useful tips about anything and everything! I love it! Also, I may or may not be slightly addicted to it...
Tip #4: Try to coordinate your colors!
Now, when I say "Coordinate your colors", I do not mean this:
Unless you are going to a rodeo like this girl, do not wear all of one color! Use your common sense in these sorts of situations.
Tip #5: Use scarves!
As I said in the previous article, scarves will dress up your outfit and make you look like you have everything together (even though you and I both know that that's not the case). For any more questions regarding scarves, read "The Art of the Scarf" below.
Tip #6: DRESS UP every once in a blue moon!
Believe me, I don't want to leave my bed most mornings, much less get dressed. But wearing your pajamas out should never be an option. If you want people to think that you are professional, try to at least dress professionally. This doesn't mean that you should wear pant suits and whatnot on a daily basis, but perhaps a skirt or even (God forbid!) a dress would have a similar effect.
Live long and prosper fashionably!
